That's pretty new to me. Yeah, anyone can look if it's actually a registered trademark or not. Is there any other advantage than a cosmetic one to having a TM next to your name?

Not to worrying, you can borrow my trademark slogan any time, it is:-
    - The "Quill" is mightier than the Sword -
    Enjoy

just use the "TM" and hope for the best, unless you actually want to register it and go for the R

abe with respect in business hoping for the best, is not a secure enough basis to embark on a business where serious money is involved.

TM and Copyright laws and regulations are very complex and in many instances vary from country to country

I used a team of International Lawyers based in Hong Kong and it was extremely complicated and very costly to secure a bomb proof copyright or TM with International coverage

Big hitters can do it Coca Cola, CNN, Microsoft, Google et al can do it successfully but try doing it an a limited budget its tough

Your work is also covered, at least in the U.S. under intellectual property rights

    To my best understanding....
Both clasione and The Critic are right on target. Theoretically any creative or unique creation is copyright at its inception. The issue is about proving it. By registering a trademark you are creating a legal record of your claim to its use. Which gives a greater level of protection. However proof of prior conception and enough money/clout can move mountains...
