The address is www.iwestsupply.com I am new to the HTML game. I have been reading books and putting this website together. I am advertising and putting alot of money into this website but I can't get anyone to buy anything. Any suggestions on anything would be appreciated. Thanks, Troy Jones Ceo Iwest Supply.com
advertising is marketing. conversion on the web is about the sales. They're different. 1) get qualified traffic. search traffic has better chance for conversion. If you run PPC, use ad copy for pre-sales 2) get a few reasons for visitors to buy on your site. Using pursuasive writing on page to eliminate every doubt prospects will have. 3) track and analyze your traffic to figure out why conversions fail to happen 4) come up with new ideas, test, test, improve and improve. The most common mistake in conversion is that websitemasters have tried many good ideas individually, but fail to find the good combination to make the conversion happen. BTW, the site doesn't have much traffic either. alexa raning is below 2,000,000
I appreciate your help. Currently I am having issues with my meta tag keywords. I have jumped my ranking to about 1.5 million and climbing buy I cannot see my keywords at all. Does anyone have any suggestions on this. I am learning how to do SEO stuff but I am really new at this. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it. Thanks, Troy www.iwestsupply.com
Troy, from your page source i see that you are targetting pretty generic keywords: <meta name="keywords" content="acer, dvd, laptop, plasma, lcd, cd rom, computer, desktop, notebooks"> It's very very difficult to get to even the top 100 000 site for those generic keywords. Try search for keyword like acer and you'll get 19 million pages while Dvd - 387 million pages! Try http://www.nichebot.com to check for suitable keyword. So instead of acer, you would see that keyword "acer scanner" has lower supply of pages, which means you have better chances of getting to the top. http://www.nichebot.com/o/?term=acer Instead of dvd, you may want to go for "dvd burner" - if you have that product http://www.nichebot.com/o/?term=dvd. These are examples. You may have the product, or you may not have them. It's just an example of how to get the right keyword to target. Hope it helps! p/s - you need to target really good keyword for your homepage. Maybe not acer or dvd. try something unique with low supply. it takes time, effort and patience
I appreciate all of the help. You get really caught up in the web design when you are building a page and forget about the important stuff. Also does my meta tags look ok? How do I move up the ranks with my new keywords? Thanks, Troy www.iwestsupply.com
As Iskander said, I would go for 'niche' keywords/phrases, at least until you've built up a reputation. Make sure these phrases are repeated throughout the website text in a natural manner rather than just listed. Use them as alt tags in pictures, header tags etc. Get as many backlinks as you can by submitting to directories and if you can use the keyword phrase as the link text.
I agree with adman_9000, that's basically what you do. Although that's a bit general, that really is what should be done. The key is - niche keyword. General keyword is a NO.. NO I've looked at your meta. Personally i would only use 2 meta tags. Description and Keyword. Others are normally not important ( heck! google does not even care about keyword and description tag). But you need it for other engines like Yahoo. If it's a new site, target your page for Yahoo first. They don't care much about the no of links pointing to your site and how long you've been in the web. If your page has a lot of relevant content, you'll get to the top. Ok, Troy, happy optimizing !
I appreciate you sharing your knowledge to help me. It is hard learning this stuff but people like yourself help out alot. Again I appreciate your help now I am going to try to get a top ten ranking. Thanks, Troy
