I need some superbasic blogging tutorials

    I am good at: html, css, basic javascript, basic php, LaTeX, basic photoshop

    Specifically, I need:

    1. Which blog software to install
    2. How to install the very good quality blog into my already-purchased website, something like example.com/blog
    3. How to add features to the blog, *especially* LaTeX editing of equations if possible
    4. How to completely edit the look and feel of the blog, completely

    WordPress with the Easy Latex plugin. I think that cover 1, 2, 3, and 4. You can have the root of the blog in any folder name you want, or have it take over the front page in the root without disturbing any other existing content. The theme is easy to work and if you are as good as you say, then it should not be much problem to take on the look and feel of the original site (unless the site is table based design)

    1. Wordpress is an excellent blogging software. You can test drive it on wordpress.com account.
    2. If that site has cpanel then installing wordpress from the fantastico will take few minutes.
    3. Check the link given by doger for latex plugin.
    4. You need to learn about wordpress themes and templates. It's very easy to build wordpress themes. Search on google for some easy tutorials.

    1 : wordpress is the most popular blogging software
    2 : the setup will be self explanatory
    3 : As said above use the Easy Latex plugin
    4 : You need to edit CSS (you said you are good at it so it will be easy)

    I think that every body ho whants to start a blog should consider wordpress as the starting point. It is easy to use and maintain.

    You can set up Wordpress in a matter of few minutes, and customize the theme acc to your requirements as well... However, I am not sure about your 3rd requirement - but, I guess everything can be done in WP, though you may have to seek help in that regard - I've no clues!

    Setting up wordpress takes less than a minute actually. Just play around, you'll get things sorted out soon enough
