Ok so I hear different suggestions about meta info...please tell me: 1) what is a good length for the Meta Title (and what it should be comprised of)? 2) how many meta keywords I should have 3) and what should the meta description be comprised of? and how long?
Refer to the 'web developer's seo cheat sheet' on seomoz: http://www.seomoz.org/user_files/SEO_Web_Developer_Cheat_Sheet.pdf For the title they recommend no more than 70 characters. For the meta description they recommend no more than 155 characters. The keyword tag is largely ignored by search engines. So either exclude it altogether or just put 5 - 10 of your important keywords. Anything in the keywords tag likely won't help at all though.
The meta description often shows up as the text under your site title in the search engines. As a result it should be a "call to action". Make it something that will entice the searcher to click on the link after typing the keywords you've targeted for the page. Of course, the title and description on the page should contain those keywords so that you show up in the SERPs for them.
I prefer 65 Character for Meta Title... for meta description i am adding 250 words and keywords upto 400 characters in meta's... i don't believe that google harm site because of heavy use in meta's because my site is on top position in google with this kind of condition
