Hi there everyone, Well I have had this idea for a while and was wondering if it is possible. Let's say I take a free forum like phpBB and install it. Is it possible to take phpBB and turn it into a gaming forum in the sense of that a person doesn't just create a profile when they sign up, but a character like a 'Warrior' for example and over time, you can add different things to your character, like if you gain access to an 'Axe' for example...then a mod can give it to the user and a little picture/or text will display with the character profile what he/she has etc. If you have ever heard of forum roleplaying... it's basically just adding more interactivity to a forum. Is this possible at all? A good example is gaiaonline and how they give you the user access to an avatar/character and you can dress them up and make money etc. If anyone out there is experienced in this field or that can recommend a few places that might help with this, then it will be appreciated. Regards, Sarah
Possible yes... but you will need to hire a programmer or use a Ranking MOD (PHPBB have a few options) but it would be a good starting point.

I think the best starting point is to install Arcade mod and Medal mod in phpBB. Both are very nicely working with me. You will need fewer knowledge in php to install them and some good knowledge in php & phpBB mods to modify them as you need.
Thanks for all the replies. I used to have a forum before and installed a few mods like ranking and a simple rpg mod that had the weather and other things, but I guess I wanted more functionality. I will have to look into it a bit more.
