Hi everyone, I have a question and I have looked for an answer but not exactly finding what I am looking for. I have an anime blog. Now with every anime site you have a list of the Anime Series a person will be covering. My theme is through elegantthemes and that isn't the problem, but getting a nice page with buttons that link to a post that is about a specific anime is giving me a headache. I can do it, but problem is if someone doesn't go through the page where it showcases the anime buttons, then they won't know what the anime series is about. At present Wordpress archives old posts and that is the problem. Like a proper site, I would like a wordpress post to stay at the top that basically introduces the reader to the anime series and then any subsequent posts afterwards can be like it normally is. So it's like having a stickied post at the top. Because I have quite a few anime series that I have watched, I need each stickied post to be unique and not just be another announcement plugin. So is there is a way to do that or is there a plugin out there with that capability? I would appreciate some input on this or if there is suggestions then let me know.
There are a couple of plugins tha may help you if they work with your theme. My link order My category order etc. I don't remember the exact names, but what they do is allow you to reorganize the order in which categories and links and even archives are displayed. Sometimes you have to make changes to your template to make them work. You could also have a designer customize your theme to remove the elements you don't want to appear. I use Wordpress for a CMS on a lot of projects, but I had someone else do the coding for me. So your problem is really getting the template backend coded and the plugins to work. It shouldn't cost much to find a good designer to help you with this. http://geekyweekly.com/ is the main page of the guy who wrote the plugins.
There is also a "sticky post " plug in that lets you sticky multiple posts, not sure of the name, I haven't used it in a while, sorry.
If any of the sticky post plugins do not work for what you need? You may be able to achieve the desired results by using page instead of a post, for on the page where you need custom layouts. A page in wordpress can allow more flexibility when it comes to trying to make layout outside of the global post patten of the site. Because a page can use its own unique page template and post can not. Could even make a static front page and have your posts page behind that.. Or if you need to have the top half show a custom layout and the bottom half show the posts? That would require more extensive template tweaks to the post template. Boulder
Thanks for the great replies people. It is much appreciated. I took everyone's replies into consideration and had a look at geekyweekly.com and will also look at my link order and my category order. Something there may be of use. I was looking at some of the sticky plugins which I managed to find eventually...I just hope it works. I have never tried it before plus it doesn't state whether it is useable with wordpress 2.7.1. *fingers crossed*
