    The purpose of forums such as this is to share problems and solutions for the benefit of the whole community. Asking for private help is poor form, and does a disservice to the rest of the members who share your problem, or may run into it in the future. The forum loses the resource of having the problem and solution archived for search. You also do yourself badly by limiting the quality and variety of responses, not to mention the peer review of those bits of help you do get.

    Be a contributing member. Contribute a problem or contribute a solution, but don't take it private for the selfish benefit of just yourself.
