Hello, I'm planning to signup as an affiliate to Hostgator but I wonder if they're reliable and pay on time etc. I'm very happy with their hosting service but affiliation is something different. So please share your two words if you're earning from their affiliate program. Thanks in advance,
Well, until today I thought they were fair. They want the customers you bring in to stay with them at least 3 months which is OK. Their inhouse affiliate program provides you with statuses of your commissions. Some customers "Cancel" their accounts, some don't verify them and are marked as "Fraud", some don't pay and are marked as "Overdue" and some are marked "Duplicate" (if customer had an account with them before). You can actually check all the statues (those websites eventually go offline or are suspended), except for duplicate accounts - this is the one you can't check and just have to trust them. Commissions are marked "Duplicate" immediately. But for some reason, now when it's payout time for May all of my May's active commissions suddenly got marked as "Duplicate" which screams SHAVING. I'm not sure if I want to recommend their affiliate program anymore.
Oh Hostgators affiliate program is amazing, very easy to use! One great thing is you can create your own unique voucher codes to promote there program! I make a lot of sales via Hostgator I would suggest singing up to them, there great!
I also was thinking about using this affiliate program, but after that what vision2003 wrote I will have to search for additional opinions and experience about working with them ... but still I think that I will use their hosting service for my web page!
Yes, they are excellent and pay on time. I am using them from one year! It works like a charm. But you just need to make sure that the one who you refer should stay for atleast 3 months or more in order to get paid.
HostGator is giving me this same problem. When payout was due, it said "Active". One month later (after payout is due) it says "Duplicate". According to their TOS, I did not violate any of them. HostGator's Affiliate program is bad right now, to me. 3 commissions and only 1 that is being paid, and it says pending. It appears they are doing a type of payout minimization math, if you will. This seems like a rip-off, but I will wait for their reply before I give it a 100% SCAM title.
This is exactly what happen to me... I'm going to mail hostgator affiliate soon. I'll be posting the reply soon.
I'm back. I just want to post an update. Hostgator team replied that all status are temporary until the day they sent cheque. They do pay me in the end. Thanks.
You're better off starting up as a reseller for Hostgator.. Much more opportunity to earn bigger bucks that way.
