I'm currently running a dedicated redhat box for development purposes. It needs closer management and I don't have the time to analyse the impact of every minor change. So I'm going to scrap it and move on to something equally fun but less demanding.. I'm considering a fully managed VPS solution. I'm looking for 40+ Gig Space, around 500Gig throughput per mth, root access (yes, I frequently make changes - so managed means PROFESSIONALLY/KNOWLEDGABLY MANAGED/ABLE TO AUDIT) and of course any management apps such as WHM/CPanel and the like. Nightly remote backups are a MUST, with zero restore fees. I've kept it simple, you fill in the blanks. The only proviso is I don't want to spend more than $40 per mth. Oh, and I need to be able to buy IPs in blocks as needed (blocks of 8, 12 or 24 etc preferably across different C Classes). If you've questions, feel free to ask Thanks, JL
What's your budget and where in the world do you want it located? EDIT I see $40 - my planned suggested was 10 times that. Never mind! Sorry for the bump
Thanks for the feedback guys Still need something usable tho.. also, please keep in mind I need a managed solution with root access.. quite the combination/ask Thx.
for 49/month you can get a managed vps at servint.net comes with 10gb space / 300gb bandwidth (i know its lower then what you asked for but its only my suggestion 2 you)
Thx just-4-teens, I'll take a look. The figures I provided aren't particularly hard and fast. Also, those of you recomending providers are welcome to post a link with your affil/reseller code. If you point me in the right direction there's no reason you shouldn't be paid for it. Cheers, JL
You will not find that much for 40 a month. You would be able to find maybe a 15 or 25 gb with ~350 gb bandwidth for that much, plus fees for cPanel.
a2b2.com offers basic and fully managed VPS, it is more then $40 though liquidweb.com also offers fully managed VPS I think its around $50 with cpanel I have never used these companies but I have seen many good reviews about both.
Your IP requirement is special, IP's will cost some usually, and you will usually have to provide ARIN justufucation for use of the IP's to the hosting provider. I may be able to hook you up though, please PM me
Honestly you won't find a reliable provider within your budget, but I would recommend taking a look at powervps.com
It's a little bit more costly than your budget, but I always recommend www.liquidweb.com -- I use their services and I've been thoroughly impressed so far (almost a year with them). You're not allowed to post affiliate codes in posts on DP, that's why no one does it.
Hi John, I agree, there is no reason that Fireside should not be rewarded. After you research all your options, if you decide to use Liquid Web, let me know and I'll contact Fireside to provide something for the holidays. Good luck in your search. tstoliker ( @ ) liquidweb.com
Thanks Travis I'm always on here promoting LW because you have offered me such great service in the past year. Thank you for your team's hardwork. Sidenote: I'm here to offer and promote the best services I know available, so I'm not really here for the affiliate links. Once in a while you'll see one in my sig, but not too often really. I know you wouldn't be disappointed if you chose LiquidWeb. They have more than proven themselves to me.
