Which is better for directory purposes if I want to focus on "travel photography": xxxx.com/TravelPhotography/ or xxxx.com/Travel-Photography/ Thanks in advance.
When you decide to use dash or underscore you're 100% sure that crawler will identify "Travel-Photography" as two separate words. Maybe it is not the case with Travel Photography but I will use example often used here on DP: imagine that crawler visits page xxx.com/professionalsexchange, its word tracking algorithms are pretty good at recognising words but in this case it can read "professionals exchange" or "professional sex change" . When you use dashes/underscores there will be no confusion.
agree! I'd go for this one "xxxx.com/Travel-Photography/" For the visitor's point of view, it's easier to read and remember
Use the domain without the hyphen, people forget the hyphen when typing in the url, you'll be sending traffic to the competition who owns the same name without the hyphen. You could also use the two of them and redirect the one with the hyphen to the name without the hyphen.
Hyphens are hard for people to remember when typing in a domain, but from a seach spider standpoint your directory name with the hyphen is better than without.
