I think this thread should be under Forum > Business > Buy, Sell or Trade > Services

You need good (meaning well-paid) programmers who work cheaply (meaning not very good programmers). And their English has to be better than yours.

Sounds like what you're looking for doesn't exist.

These people are so irritating and they're everywhere on this bloody site. DP has gone down hill big time.

It's the web that's gone downhill. Microsoft gave people the idea that anyone, with no knowledge or experience, can create a site like Facebook in no time at all, so hiring someone to develop a great site shouldn't cost more than a few bucks.

If it's so simple that it's not worth much, my question is why the people who want to hire a developer don't do it themselves. They're not as intelligent as someone who's not worth even minimum wage?

I hear you mate. I've been thinking for a long time now to start some sort of initiative for those who are qualified. Have you been down to eLance? It's a joke. There should be a forum/website for only those with experience, degrees and a good standard of English.

Oh, absolutely! I can't wait to earn US$50/week writing code when I could earn US$300/week flipping burgers.
It would very quickly be invaded by people who didn't know a SQL union from a C union. And many who will take the initial $100 and disappear. Administering a site like that would be a full-time job.

I agree with your sentiment, but in this day and age I disagree with who you are pointing the finger at... The fickle finger should go to Adobe, not Microsoft since Frontpage has all but disappeared and I have yet to see anyone actually using "Web Expression" -- while the number of pages crapped out in Dreamweaver's WYSIWYG or worse, sleazed out by slicing in Fireworks is on the rise.

It's let the art ***'s take over the industry, and the web as a useful tool is suffering for it... All these 'tools' do is trick people into THINKING they can make websites, which of course because they do get a result and a dozen visitors a week they continue to believe that lie. It's why I say the only thing about such softwares that can be considered professional grade tools are the people promoting their use.

But as to OP's request, there's something Dan used to say...

You can have your website created cheap, fast, or well coded. Pick only two.

DS, my only argument with any of that is that Adobe just bought Dreamweaver and Fireworks - blame Macromedia for that particular set of abortions.
