can anyone help me out on this? I have a site that is slowly getting traffic and I want to take advantage of it. Amazon is out since I don't like their low %%%% and their cookie policy sucks. any advice? thanks in advance. Pete
Not at the moment but you never know... Feel free to suggest an affiliate program, you never know when it will come in useful. cheers, Pete
US-mattress.com offers a lucrative affiliate program. However they auto rejected me & never replied to my emails.
From Amazon.com: ALSO So what's that mean? Simple: 1. Your cookie lasts a maximum of 24hours 2. The person you refered MUST make a purchase ON THAT VISIT, without leaving the site, in order for you to collect a commission. Even if your referal makes a purchase, that day, you don't get paid unless it's an impulse buy. If they are busy and have to leave the computer for a while, come back later and buy... you get nothing. I'm not willing to do that. I have nothing against losing a commission to another affiliate, when they re-visit amazon via someone elses link for example... that's no problem, that's the way all aff programs work. But having them cut me out because they're too greedy to pay, even when *I* sent them the customer? I'm not cool with that. Also from their website: "We send quarterly payment to Associates." I'm not too crazy about waiting 3 months for a commission check. My expenses are charged and paid on a daily (or almost daily) basis... I know a lot of people are doing good with Amazon, that's fine, but I'm not going to bother unless I have NO other options... I'd rather rely on Adsense.
I think you aren't right - the customer can surf later and come back to amazon and buy something - you get commision. At least that is how I understood guy who was a director of Amazon Affiliate service. He wrote in Amazon forum up here. Hm, "mattress" is non teachy niche and it means high CTR and I've just seen that CPC is quite nice so you should do good with adsense... You could put some text link to amazon extra .
It's possible that I'm mistaken but since the policy isn't crystal clear and the payments are slow, I'd rather just avoid them. As for the CTR and niche comments, your 100% right... that's why I'm not too concerned about amazon, and yes, a text link might not be a bad idea (if other programs fail to earn cash). Pete.
Hm, I've read today in email from Amazon: So, the customer doesn't have to buy product for what he have clicked. Even more cookie last for 24 hours so there is small probability that he will come later and buy book although you promote other type of products and you get awarded for book. But, that haven't happend to me. Even if he just put something in shopping cart and buy something 2 months afterwards you get commision . That's how I understood rules when I read it. Anyway, I think you should have eCPM with AdSense of 10-20$ which is excellent, if you don't have PM me your site to see what could be done. Even more, I think with some good Amazon text link you could have 2$ eCPM extra which is great .
I've seen that there are some mattress at Amazon which is great, so you could use them. Have you tried them? What is your expirience with Amazon? Any sales?
Amazon affiliate cookies and/or session IDs are only good for 24 hours. Unless they put in their cart that day and buy later, then it will sometimes track. Amazon does not explain in detail. Gene Kavner the X Director of the Amazon affiliate program is the moderator of my new Amazon affiliate forum. He explains Amazon affiliate tracking, cookies and all here. http://blog.affiliatebrand.com/2006/10/does_amazon_sto.html
