I have a soccer blog based around my favorite soccer team here in the UK. This is a very focused niche, all the visitors are supporters/followers of the soccer team. In trying to monetize the blog, I have tried Amazon and other affiliate products, but to no success. I was thinking of creating an info product for sale on the site, but am stuck with what could be offered to this niche. Was wondering if anyone out there had any ideas for me...thank you in advance.
If this site is focused on just one team then a good model for you would be selling the team's merchandise...after all you know one thing for sure, the followers and fans of this particular team would definitely love it. Find out whether the tеam has a partner program or something for selling their merchandise.
I would start with keyword research. You are doing this to find what people are looking for. No sense in creating a product just to hope it's something someone would want. I use Market Samurai (a paid tool) to help me with this type of research but you can use Google's Keyword Suggest and Google Trends to map out some good keywords if you want to go the free route. Take what you find and look for competion. If there is none...stay away from it. You want to sell something that others are already paying to advertise which proves commercial viability. You can get a ton of ideas with a little research. If you are asking for opinions on this forum...that's what you are going to get. But, if you do a little bit of research you'll get some solid information to base your decision on.
Thanks Jason, makes sense. I have keyword elite and will use that to see what others are spending adwords money on. What I struggle with is to decide on whether a market has sufficiently less competition for me to make money from.....any input greatly appreciated!
Keyword tools? I think this should be a job for your brain. Don't limit yourself to just thinking within the football niche here. Take a step back. Think about the demographics on these group of people. The majority are probably male. Then work out what sort of age range they are in. Then think about other things that men in this age range might be interested. Two simple ideas would be: -> Check out competitor websites and see how they are monetizing it -> Go to facebook and just watch the ads that form on the right side of your profile page and make a list of offers that you think these other men might be interested in. Things I seen quite often on mine are get a 6 pack, mobile phone offers etc. Best of Luck.
The fact of the matter is, very, very few click on ads. It doesn't matter what you do if you do not have that much traffic to begin with. Period.
