Last week I launched this website: http://inspiration-central.com. I think it has potential but I haven't gotten much feedback from people who are highly experienced in this area. The following 5 areas are what I care most about when it comes to quality: 1. Content 2. Design 3. Insightfulness 4. Memorability 5. Marketability Based on how the website is right now, how would you rate it on a scale from 1 - 10? What can I do to improve it starting today?
Tim555, Although I have no experience at all, I can offer you my experience from a user's standpoint. Generally, the site reminds me of those motivational posters hanging on the walls of corporations. This may or may not fit your users. I thought it was cool. The design is clean and I like some of the pictures you chose for every blog post, although honestly the overall design was a little bit on the depressing/cold side. I can't quite figure out why. Maybe it's the fact that there's very little color above the fold. And then there's that staircase to heaven. =) Memorability is another issue - I will definitely remember the superman photo, but the rest of it is probably rather like other blogs. It's just impossible to create anything memorable on the internet these days. I do like the site though - great design and great niche! Once I learn to do internet marketing myself, I'd like to learn to create sites like that. The content was very well written, by the way. Extremely readable.
A great site that I'm hooked at first visit. I could not think of any improvement that you need for the site because I like the simplicity. It is simple and navigable enough. Wish you all the best.
Thanks for all the good things you said. I did notice what you were talking about when it came to the overall design. I changed the picture for "How to Not Let Criticism Affect your Self-Confidence." I changed it from the sad guy who looked like he had a bad day to a more encouraging photo of someone ambitiously climbing a rope. I hope that's a good first step when it comes to increasing cheerfulness.
Tim555, I definitely like that picture, and it does add a sense of cheerfulness to the page. What about some color "above the fold", besides the "I" logo? It just seems to me that a lot of black and white photographs tend to be colder, while bright colors tend to inspire happiness. Alternatively, you could just make another post with a color picture. =) My opinion isn't that important, though. I'm just providing some feedback from my personal, user's perspective.
