Im selling somethin on ebay and the person I sold it to said that I need the shiping number first so that I can get paid. paypal said that they already charged his bank account know all they need is the tracking number and then my friend says that once I send it the person is going to ask for a chargeback and Ill end up losing the item I just need to know is the tracking number part right.

Have you sent the item? If you haven't yet, just be sure to use a tracking number.

If you've already sent the item without a tracking # & the buyer is giving you a hard time and you feel its necessary, tell the buyer that you have the shipping number but will only provide it to paypal and leave it at that. The buyer may call your bluff and try a chargeback, but I've tried this tactic once before and it worked. If he calls your bluff, then send the buyer an empty envelope or something via ups or fedex and provide paypal with that tracking #. (Paypal says they honor usps tracking #'s but I've heard too many stories re: the opposite.)

By the way, I normally wouldn't recommend sending empty packages but when you've honestly done your part, and the buyer is trying to lie to paypal, well...
