I need help with phpLD

I am trying to get phpLD working on my site to test it but can't seem to get it to work correctly. I installed everything without a hitch and even applied a nice template. What I am having trouble with is the categories. I think I am doing everything correctly when I create the categories but when I click on a category in the directory I get a "Cannot find page" error from my web sever. The URL path is looking for what looks like a folder with the category name but when I look at the directory structure with my FTP program I don't see folders created for each category (are there supposed to be folders?). I even tried creating a folder manually with one of the category names but it just gave me another error saying there was nothing in this folder.

What am I missing here? How is this thing supposed to work?

Here is my installation of phpLD:

You may need to rebuild your categories.

In admin, select "categories" then click the "rebuild category cache" button.

It is advisable that you ask this question to their own forum phplinkdirectory.com/forum/

You will get quick and proper response there immediately.

Have you rebuilt category cache? Is your .htaccess file uploaded correctly?

I wanted to post on their forum but something is broke with their CAPTCHA tool so it won't let me register an account. Thanks for helping out here on DP guys.

So the consensus is that I need to rebuilt category cache... I'm not seeing where to do this. There is no option for this in the Category screen in the admin console in my site.

Do you mean the .htaccess file instruction in the second to the last post of that thread (adding the line "RewriteBase /" after "RewriteEngine On")? I did that but it still doesn't work. It seems the script is getting confused when it is trying to build the link for the categories. Is this because phpLD is installed in a subdirectory of the domain?

Here is the text of my .htaccess file... LINK.

Awesome! Now we are getting somewhere. Main categories now work but sub-categories do not. Any ideas?
