ok, im making an online contest for people who are 13 years of age and older. but what kind of parent consent do i need legally to have 13 year olds and older until their majority age in their state. do i just need a parents email, or a webform or print form. or do they just need to ask thier parents before entering the contest. its a video contest so they will record themselves doing somthing..
I think you can choose any of the 3. But I prefer a written consent with the parent's signature, have it scanned and send to you via email.
how would i have thier signature on email? can they check a box that they agree to their kid having the consent from them.. like an i agree thing?
But that can easily be done, even a child can do it. You send them the form then they'll print it and scan it and email it to you.
I have never heard of parental consent for just joining a site. The federal law is under 13 years of age. Now, if they are entering a contest, that is completely different. Make sure they don't have to pay anything to enter, as this will create a gambling game in most states, which could possibly be illegal, but does have its own special set up rules. For the consent to enter the game though, I would stick with a written mailed in consent, and contact the parents by phone to verify. After that, you should be good.
ok. well i was thinking of they are not over the age of 18 they cant upload thier video. and if they are over the age of 18 they can. but if they are under 18 all they have to do before uploading the video is filling out parent info and agreeing to a waiver saying that the parent was present and he/she read and understood the rules and consent. and to verify we would have to call in or email the parents email..
