Some of my clients are submitting articles with links at the bottom to a forum thread so the reader can discuss the article with other readers.

Not sure how this could be applied to brad pitt though, maybe a review of a film or something? or some news?

There are lots of things you can do, Subzero...most important of all, customize your forums! Who is going to join a brad pitt forum that has a phpBB logo on it?

Put a picture of Brad Pitt up there.

Get rid of the "Welcome to phpBB 2" thread - it's obvious that you have not spent any time on these forums.

New skin, new logo, + more posts. You can either pay for posts or exchange them. If you want to exchange posts, I suggest you take a look here. It'll automate the entire process for you....If you are going to pay for posts, be very careful. Do some research - because most of these paid posting companies have a bad record. After you start to get some new members and posts, be sure that you are always feeding the forums new threads. Nobody is going to keep coming back if there is nothing new to read.

You have a great oppertunity to get ranked for two keywords that are searched by many... MANY people on a dailly basis. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie! If you get the golden triangle rolling you should pickup traffic soon.

The golden triangle involves the following:
Publish relevant article. Publish article in blog and then have a forum discussion for it. All of these pages are linked to each other. and reference one another.

Considdering your forum is brand new, I suggest that you try to get into celeb forums already. MrSpencer.co.za for example is the largest in SA. People on there will soon get to know your site and chat away...

You can also try adding some freebies, contest to attract users. Do some advertisements. Good luck ('',)

    Hi Subzero!
There are a lot of things you can do to help promote a new forum. Paid posting services definately give a big help in kick starting a forum. You need content and posts up there before real users are going to register.

Put a link to your forum in your signature, it helps get the occasional visitor and also helps with search engine ranking.

Holding contests on your forum helps boost new signups and increase activity.
