Im new so go easy I have what is probably a very silly question. Do SERP's change based on american state? e.g Does someone in New York see different results to someone in LA? I know they do in different countries US UK Canada Ireland etc. I always thought they didnt. Ive been using Google Insights recently and was looking into how i could make these differences in different state search volumes work for me Many thanks
the SERPS change based on the datacenter you are near to. I'm sure searching from different country's google will get different result, but not sure about different state.
Could you explain? I understand that different countries get different results obviously. There is at least a different datacentre in every state isnt there? Would that mean all over america people see slightly different google results? I didnt think it was quite as simple as, "if your near data centre a you will get results a, if your near data centre b you see results b". Im sure its not. If people in different states do see different results is there anyway to geographically monitor how my keywords perform over different states? Like google insights but to track my sites own keywords in serps over different states.
if u want to rank well for a specific country then get backlinks from the country u like, then go to webmaster central and pick your regional preference
I'll never understand how comments like this are going to help anyone. The original poster is asking questions about getting different search results in certain areas of the country, and then we see "Improve your website". If you're going to post some random comment that has no value, at least give the guy some tips on how he could improve his site. Don't just say "Improve your website"...that helps no one.
i understand gaining backlinks from the country you require indexing from. Obviously country your hosting in and TLD matter as well, thats not what im getting at. All i want to know is do different US states get different Google SERP's. And if they do, why?
