I need help finding good web directory software

I am currently trying a free one out, but I would like some direction toward some others before I make a final decision. Free is fine, but I am not looking specifically for free software. I dont mind paying some money for this if it is worth it.

I looked at phplinkdirectory, but I cannot figure out how to download the 2.0 version. I went to their link for directory installation and that site is basically shut down. I would like to try this one out though if I could simply figure out how to download and install the latest version. The file is in a different format than the beta versions

    I need:
    • search engine friendly URL's - If I am going to include a link, I want it to benefit the site owner
    • recip links - a setup that will allow me to require and easily verify this
    • ability to easily set up free (with recip), paid, and premium paid listings
    • easy to install and modify so it looks like the rest of my site - I dont have alot of web design knowledge, but learning as I go.

www.focalmedia.net has a good one. I've recently converted my directory away from focalmedia cuz I wanted a few custom features, but overall its a very nice product.

No it isn't. The site is alive and well, including the support forum, at http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/forum/ .

You raised this elsewhere. The file was in .gz format which many zip utilities can handle - the lack of a zip file was an oversight which has now been corrected, as David Duval told you the other thread where you raised this issue.

Now this is a job for Php Link Directory (zip version) :)

And as Minstrel already told you, almoust any archiver on the market, can support the tar.gz format.

Is this phplinkdirectory free? I don't see any buy sign or something, just make a donation - ie. free as I assume -

Yes and it is the dogs hairies :)
The new version 3.0 is coming out in 2 or 3 weeks but will cost $25 for about 6 months and will eventually become free (I can't wait....I'd pay 100 for it).

Version 2 should still be free during that time.
I'm running my dir with it (ver 2) see sig.
    Good luck

PHPLD is the best I found as well. The support forums are even better. Winzip will open the gz format without any problem. but I thought I read another thread where you were given a link to the .zip file, and you acknowledged you had it. I could be mistaken though.

Yep , phplinkdirectory is by far best web directory script as it's free. But they have tons of mods , if you can use it properly this directrory script is superior. Also version 3.0 will have very good features too ... so go for it.

Megrisoft owns like 500 websites i think.

They spammed, spam and WILL spam all my directories and websites, as soon as they have the chance.

Really. I would not trust these people.

I'm a big fan of www.wsnlinks.com - I have 3 directories going with their system and it will meet all of the criteria given.
