I am looking for a host that can host my video site. I need around 100-200gb space and 10-30TB of bandwidth. Please post a host if you need it. Or one if you own it. Doesn't matter I just need something cost effective that will work. ~Gahoo
This really requires a dedicated server IMO. We offer several dedicated server plans that would fit your needs, however bandwidth wise, you would be talking somewhere in the neighborhood of whatever plan/cost you choose, plus $2500/mo. for bandwidth. Our servers come with about 1TB of transfer/mo. 10TB is like 30.8 mbit/sec of sustained utilization. That is some serious bandwidth for one site. If this is something you are really interested let me know, and I will quote the full 30TB as well. Thank you.
Well the past 6 days I have used 350GB of bandwidth.. Here is the chart in my sites growth. 19 Jul 2007 189 2095 12147 11.30 GB 20 Jul 2007 396 3933 21015 26.48 GB 21 Jul 2007 678 5213 31903 46.82 GB 22 Jul 2007 782 5826 36778 56.20 GB 23 Jul 2007 590 4662 27946 37.93 GB 24 Jul 2007 1684 2765 9041 117.46 GB Those stats are from awstats. I did no advertising to achevie this.. Just one day my traffic went up so much... Here is what i was getting begining of the month. 01 Jul 2007 34 119 782 25.88 MB 02 Jul 2007 40 172 619 13.46 MB 03 Jul 2007 29 106 483 89.55 MB 2TB of bandwidth may do well.. I was looking at the low end package Mia and was wondering how much it would cost to add an additional TB of bandwidth. As for my budget. I am just looking around to see whats there. Then I will decide what my budget is on prices. Thanks, ~gahoo
Gahoo, this is very good information. If we assume the 117GB day was a fluke and assume your average day is more like 50GB then 2TB would be more than sufficient. I think a our large plan, ie. the large dedicated server would be the route to go, at around $400/mo. based on the 2TB/month. If the site does keep growing exponentially then we would have a problem. For example, a 117GB day would be roughly 10mbit/sec sustained, with peaks of 15mbit/sec or more. This would basically consume a lot of bw. That said, we would likely need to come up with an overage charge. I think based on what you are showing me from above, you are looking at around $400/mo. to $1000/mo. minimum. Let me know your thoughts and if you would like to talk more about this. Thank you. It would be interesting to see what the site does today.
Someone was hot linking me yesterday. Taking all my 300mb video .flv urls and using there player on there site to veiw them. Which is why bandwidth use was so high. Heres the stats for today that just started. 25 Jul 2007 976 1729 6204 33.97 GB Some how i have to limit it so my 100gb of bandwidth that i have left can last the rest of the month :\ But i'll continue to shop around then let you know Mia.

I tried contacting there support via msn. and its possibly the worst ever. Never once have they replied to my questions. I was going to switch to them to.. to bad they dont know what consumer service is. I might be going with this - http://www.lunarpages.com/basic-hosting/ my host recommended them to me. Which makes them trust worthy in my book especially since my current host will loose business.
I wouldn't recommend Cirtex for FFMPEG hosting, because pages take ages to load. Plus they put limits and if you want to upload a large amount of files, be prepared because with uploading speeds of 1kb/s to 10 kb/s you 'll need a few days. Talking from my own experience, when i tried one of their plans to host a site that needed FFMPEG. After a few days i moved my client to a dedicated server for optimal performance. You can have a look at: http://www.amhnetwork.com.au/index.php?page=ffmpeghosting http://www.qoozz.com http://www.skynethosting.net http://www.downtownhost.com http://www.secureservertech.com http://www.apthost.com
amhnetwork and gamers-pad are SUPER over priced.. i have never seen higher prices for nothing. There 79.99 bundle is exactly what i get at imageleet.com for $15
There not overpriced. Imageleet, cirtex, xila are underpriced. If you pay less you will get less quality - cogent, tier3 uselesss bandwidth. But thats up to the individual.
**EDITED** Didnt read carefully just woke up ^_^ I could get a dedicated server with 2TB of bandwidth (WHICH I NEED) for the price of the others "hosts" You also says "useless bandwidth" how is it useless?
If you read carefully he didn't say that imageleet is overpriced. FFMPEG is not like shared hosting and consumes a lot of CPU power, especially while the videos are converted in .flv format If you cross their CPU limits you 'll receive a warning and your account will be suspended. Also you asked for some recomendations and then started to shout at people expressing their opinions about hosts. Savvis network is good for USA but not that good for Europe. $15 for 500GB can't be offered unless overselling is enabled. In order to offer FFMPEG you need at least a Dual Core machine which costs no less than $120/month for 2GB quality bandwith. If you sell 500GB of BW at $15 to 4 people, then all BW is allocated and you have a loss of $60. You get what you pay for. That's a GOLD rule in hosting
