(3) I cannot afford anything but a free domain.

Posting unique and quality content,SEO your site, Getting backlinks can get you ranked good in google.
If you can't afford a domain then use other free domain services like .co.cc and use wordpress which has Better SEO and you can choose from thousands of free themes and plugins.

from a graphic point of view, its very boring. If you intend to catch someones eye, it needs to POP. There's a big lack in color coordination, you should really invest in a logo (I know a great guy ), and if you expect anyone to ever take you seriously, lose the weebly, purchase a domain and hosting

(3) I tried to map the domain to the blog, but they are talking about $9 and some change. Isn't BOTH things suppose to be FREE?

Hey, thanks. I have 2 days to get the domain set up before they cancel it. This is my first time with a domain. I hope you guys will be around for the next 2 days to answer any questions I may have (lol). And yes, I will definately get a logo and all the other advice. OK..you need to start with basics. A domain will help you to make your site more popular. Tell me, who will remember http://survivingunemployment.weebly.com. A domain allows you to install CMS like wordpress, Joomla etc or you can build any site on your domain(of course you must know some programming). Thats why i suggest you .co.cc which will allow you to use wordpress which is awesome(at least better than this weebly thing). One more suggestion for you, look around this forum(beautiful place to learn), read the threads on SEO, Adsense, Link development as much as you can. If you have any question come back here.

 

Don't know if you found your answer, but I'd keep the Weebly site to post your own articles and link to your new domain site. The cheapest domain (because it makes you look like a real business and not spam) to get would be a .info and a free hosting account where you register your domain name. Most registrars will give you a tiny site to start until you can afford more.

You have the right idea, but in the beginning - write your own blog posts. It will give visitors to your site a better idea of who you are and can help.
