I am looking for examples of sites using wordpress as a cms. I am trying to convey to a client that just because it is a blog platform it doesn't mean the end result looks or feels like a blog.

Any example links would be great.

You should try WP-United. It's a system that intergrates Wordpress and PhpBB. You see how it looks on their webpage http://www.wp-united.com.

    My site is 100% WordPress -- www.modernflat.com

It's a blog and a work in progress. WordPress allows for so much customization that I'm always trying to refine the website.

I'm working on a few areas of the site that will contain static data (Pages in WP) in a very structured manner. It's surprisingly easy to do.

If you really do need a full blown CMS then WP won't cut it. However if you are running anything short of an enterprise level web/intranet then I think WP can be a good solution.
