I am hiring some different comanpanies to design/program several scripts for me. I want to make sure that we both feel comfortable with the payment terms and the completion of the project ALONG with a contract to make sure that they can't legally sell or give away the script. I want it to be my property.

    Does anyone have contracts for
    1. Payment terms and project completion
    2. Exclusive rights to ownership of the script, idea and modifications

    ??
    thanks!

You mean you need the actual contract to send to the team, they sign and that's it?

If yes, I think that I have an outsourcing contract somewhere...

Would a NDA with just an extra paragraph on payment and rights of ownership do? Search Google.....there are some pretty nifty free contract sites around.

Just make sure any contract you use is legal where you live.... getting one from someone else doesn't guarantee that by a long shot.

I dont know much about exclusive rights but does signing contract could guarantee you exclusivity ? they could just change a few bits of code here and there that's all. and it would also be difficult to track whether a site with features same as yours uses ther same script.

Of course it provides protection... it's evidence if you should have to sue them for some reason. Without one, it's often much more difficult to prove if you have a claim like that.
