Cant help you with your question given we dont develop in PHP and dont use off the shelf....

I am however confused by the number of people posting questions about how to do end for end projects for their "clients". I cant ever imagine considering taking on a project where my developers didnt know how to do the clients requirements. Surely you sort these things out before you take on the client? If not for the reputational aspect but for the sake of knowing how much to quote.

Well, you've made an interesting point.

I've based it on the fact that I already have a solution in mind (coppermine), but am looking for a better solution and I'm sure someone on the forum can find a one!

You can make one pretty easily with php which scans a directory and shows all the images that are there. I have no idea how hard an upload script would be along with login, etc. But depending on if your "client" knows how to ftp into a certain directory then you might not need it.

Search google for a tutorial on it, thats how I found one before...

I decided to use coppermine in the end.
