I am having a new 'box' built and can't decide on which 'home' os to install.

    Specs--
    Intel Q8400 CPU 2.66Ghz.
    Intel DP43TF Motherboard
    Evga 8400GS 512 PCI Express
Western Digital 250 Gb. S-ATA (2 of these)
Crucial 2 GB PC-6400 DDR2 Ram (total of 6 gig)

It will have Windows and Virtual Box installed. Ubuntu and either XP or 7 will be run as Virtual machines.

My dilemma; is Should I install 7 with XP as a virtual or XP with 7 as a virtual.

I don't play games or do heavy duty video editing. Most of my time is spent using Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Open Office. I build sites and do a lot of modification of templates - Drupal, WP, Joomla etc. etc.

My biggest hesitation is committing to an OS this new even if it is basically a cleaned up Vista. My XP never crashes except when I get PS, DW, OO and 3 or 4 browsers running and likely doing CuteFTP uploads and decide to edit a 25mb image. My current box is starting to suffer from old age.

    Hi There

I'd install Windows 7 with XP Mode for any XP compatability you need.

Remember that only the Pro / Ultimate versions support XP Mode.

You could test Windows 7 on a VM on your current setup.

If you need help on setting up a VM see my VM setup guide based on Windows 7 here

    Regards
