I have been researching a six-word phrase and hoping to build a website that will rank first for this phrase in Google. It has only 600 searches per month but is of high offline value. The position is currently occupied by the webpage of a very large and well established website. The webpage has PR4 and doesn't seem to be particularly targeting this phrase as it doesn't appear anywhere in the page, though the keywords are spread sporadically in it. Also, it has only 9 external inbound links but about 170,000 internal links pointing to the page. My question is: How difficult or easy is it to build a website that can rank first for this phrase?
In my honest opinion, monetizing a website that get's around 300 views a month really isn't worth it - I'd move on. But, if you build say at least 15 Web 2.0 Properties and a large and powerful Link Wheel, you'll be able to outrank that specific webpage within a month... my advice would be to research Link Wheels, and only have incoming Links to your main website from Web 2.0 Properties, not blog commenting or crap directory listings... use those types of links for your Web 2.0 properties. Hope that helps, Lynn.
Authority sites seems to hold a favor on long tail searches now a days. Also, you would need to establish well-written and useful content around the phrase and ensure your home page's title is you 6 keyword phrase. I would also include no more than 3 terms in your domain name relevant for the the 6 term phrase you are aiming for. On a user level, long domain names turn me off.
you can outrank any site mate. Just do link wheel building and get some article posting. But why will you try to rank a term for which you won't get even 1000 visitors a month.
Study your competition very well, do they do social media, video marketing etc...if not focus on this. Plus, also provide relevant content. You don't need to do keyword stuffing, you just need to use relevant keywords. And more, revisit the keywords you use, don't try to outrun the authority sites by using the keywords they've been using already, use something else instead that is also relevant/synonymous. This way you can make it on the first page of Google. You can use the highly competitive keywords or the phrase referring on your content and other content you have on the web...just like the rest, do some link wheel building.
six-word phrase with only only 600 searches seems very easy.. choose a good domain having some strong words out of those six-words.. use six-word phrase in 'Title tag' and meta description.. use in image alt tags.. try getting your sites some external links and you can achieve your targeted results.. another suggested option if you just don't want you index page to be listed there.. just write a unique and useful article targeting your six-word phrase in blog section of your site.. promote it through social media and you can achieve your targeted position in less than expected time.
Take above(webmindz24)advice, he is right on the money. Everybody else- you are overkilling this very simple task. Why build link wheel, why even bother with separate domain? Just create subpage dedicated to the topic and let it outrank this weak competitor.Unless of course you have no idea about SEO then it may not be so easy.
