Ok now im no newbie but latily i have been having this lil problem
on my server when i go to upload a .zip file......
after i upload it ....it is an empty folder and not a .zip file/
i can upload an .rar and i have no problem

i need to know why the .zip turns into and empty folder named the same as the zip file

i used to be able to upload zip files to my server and i was able to the other day but now i cannot
what format does it need to be uploaded in binary or asci?

or what could be causing this

This happens sometimes on some servers when you try to upload zip files using an FTP program. If it's a cpanel server you can login to your cpanel and use File Manager to upload the file instead of FTP then it should be fine.

Use/get use Dreamweaver. Shouldn't be any problems with that. You can use a trial version if you really have to get these files up today.

nodder - hang on a minute. I had this same issue a month back. I wrote myself some notes to remember how to do it lol as I don't do it that often and knew I would forget. Let me dig them up and I will post again.

The notes are on my thumb drive which I am in process of transferring to a CD - grrrrrr another 45 minutes to go for transfer and I can't open it in the middle - sorry.

If no one has helped you when this is done, I will post the info I have.

I recall I did have to create a extract folder and save the zip in there and then was able to open. I know there were a few more steps in the middle but I just can't remember them right now.

Have you tried dragging and dropping the file into your server FTP window in Cute FTP from your PC folder instead of selecting upload from CuteFTP?

    1. make a folder on your desktop titled anything.
    2. move your zip file to that folder
    3. open with 7 zip - 7-zip .org ( it's free )
    4. open your FTP
    5. open in dreamweaver or frontpage or web source

After all the time I had to make you wait, I sure hope this is the answer you needed :)
