I have a web site and I want to drive more traffic to it. I have been told that linking is the way to go, but I am unsure how to approach this or even if I am understanding what 'linking' is. Second, directories. What are they all about? The website I run is dedicated to free movies, tv and music for the internet and portable devices. Which directories are dedicated to this niche? Thanks in advance. oh, the website is : http://www.bionicbuddha.com
The concept of linking as originally proposed by Google, basically assumes that if a site has more links pointing to it, than a competitive site, then it must be more important or credible. Various other factors are taken into consideration, such as the authority of the site giving the link and how long the link has been in existence. Please note this is an oversimplification of pretty complex process. Because many people have tried to cheat the system, the Search Engines, have become highly suspicious of Link Directories, which are essentially a site that gives you a link "just because..." with no relevant reason to link to you. If you want links, you should consider writing articles and contacting relevant sites to publish them. Put your URL in your resource box. Just remember to submit unique articles to each site you contact. This is probably the best way to go in the long run. Regards David Tislini
