I tried skinning this script before (based on phpld) and with my limited knowledge of CSS it sucked pretty hard. I decided to buy a book on CSS because I just find online tutorials a little cumbersome to thumb through. I am still learning but I turned this out in a few hours. I would like constructive criticism to help me improve this news site. URL: www.Riotnews.com So hit me with it.
Looks good... Here are my suggestions: Decrease the width of the page... It doesn't fit on my screen, and I've got it at a pretty standard res. Also, I think you might want to consider changing that white font to a sans-serif one rather than Times.
I would make a background lighter. Take a look at other news sites. They are in most cases have minimum graphics, and have light colors. I might be mistaken though
it works pretty well - i cant see a contact us button - someone might want to contact you to offer a good deal etc - always good to have one cheers mike
nice i'd also suggest having the N/A be like silver or white the text n top "Riot News" you could remove it its extra of the same thing "3 hours 11 minutes ago" text, try making it a bit smaller is your site for 1024x768? the google banner on right makes it so Good Luck
Thanks everyone for the input and I will see what I can do about the suggestion. They don’t seem too hard to integrate into the site. Yes, ludwig, my monitor has a higher rez then 1024X768 so it looks small to me and I just forgot all about trying to meet other people’s rez. I am still learning, so I will have to look into trying to make a more fluid layout for future projects. I have the contents contained in a wrapper, so I probably should center it anyway. Thanks again guys
