I keep on having to switch hosts because of crappy service and little hidden things. I get about 10k unique per day for my site and it uses about 20 gigs per day of bandwidth.. and will probably expand to 30 to 40 gigs per day... I switched to APLUS.NET - they have been good so far, but my site keeps on crashing their server because of the number of mysql queries done. crap - I didn't know they put a limit on it - so it's costing me a TON of money as we speak until they get it back up and running.. I need to move quick.. any suggestions? 1500 to 2000 gigs bandwidth per month unlimited mysql queries cpanel preferrably (doesn't have to be) under $20 per month?!?! 24/7 customer support (over phone and email - I don't like the callback/email back BS - I want to speak with someone when I want to speak with someone!) help quick!
I can recommend you softlayer.com. I've being with them for 4 months now without a problem. Their servers are around $200 per month though.
for what you are doing you should not even be considering anything other than a dedicated server. If you stick with your $20/mth budget you will continue to have problems. Up that to $120-200/mth and find a good dedi server.
Yeah, a dedicated server is the only realistic way that you would be able to guaratee better uptime and reliability. On a $20 a month package it is shared or virtual and they put the limits in so that you dont ever use more than a certain percentage of the server resources. With a dedicated server you have the control.
www.site5.com is awesome. Great service all the way around...equipment and customer service on it. I've hosted my sites there for the past 2 years and have seldom had a problem. That said, you are going to have a difficult time finding anything for $20. Given the traffic you're recieving, you should make that up in some sort of revenue. Good Luck!
Re: site5: Have you guys ever seen any problems with the connection speed to the MySQL db's? My current host has had really slow DB connections for the two years I've had them and I wouldn't mind spiffing that up. It looks like site5's plans are competitive - just wondering about the satisfaction with database-driven site speed. Thanks, Mike
