    Hi All,

I want to sell books and art online - I already have a domain name

I need a website set up with ecommerce so people can click on the book/art (I will put up images) and then I get some sort of message so I can send the book

Is there a relatively cheap or free way I can sort out ecommerce?

Also if anyone knows of somewhere I can get a cheap website made and hosted please let me know

I have a few hundred different books (under different subjects) as well as different artists who want to sell their artwork

    I just want something reliable.

    Any help appreciated. Thank you.

    :)

I haven't used them, but they may be worth a look

For relatively small number of products, you may simply buy an affordable hosting solution (USD 10-30/mo) and use an open source shopping cart. There are free solutions (like ZenCart or osCommerce) which are likely to be available on a hosting already, or there are some affordable, yet more functional paid shopping carts (CS-Cart is an example). Such carts can usually be installed for you by the manufacturer. I'd also advice you to compare various carts and their features at shopping-cart-reviews.com, this site is a really decent source of information.

I have used ECWID.NET in the past and they are pretty sweet for a free solution. They have facebook integration as well a plug in that will integrate the shopping cart in to your wordpress blog.

yep you got 2 options use free like online shop applications like oscommerce, nopcommerce if your tech savy. But I assume your not, so you would have to pay someone which can cost $300 - $500 for a fully setup ecommerce site.

I would recommend a free shopping cart such as OSCommerce. It's very powerful and you can use it on any PHP/Linux web hosting service.

Probably best to use Joomla content management system in conjunction with Virtuemart shopping cart. Joomla is a powerful CMS program that can be used to build complex websites and there are thousands of free templates. Virtuemart is a free Joomla component that will allow you incorporate a shopping cart into your website. The main benefit of this over oscommerce or the other free shopping carts is the ability to create complex pages alongside your shopping cart such as blogs forums and even a small book readers community sort of thing. You can read the documentation of Joomla at Joomla.org and virtuemart at virtuemart.net. I can help set up a barebone site for free and you populate the site as you wish. Thanks
