    Hi,

    I run www.nonstopfootball.com

    It's a football forum.

The actual forum is located at www.nonstopfootball.com/forum

I have a permanent redirect from www.nonstopfootball.com to the /forum folder ( I read that for bots this is a good thing )

I have put in SEO friendly urls inside the forum ( forum names=title of forum, forum topics = topicXX ) as per some phpbb mod i found.

My question is, how can I make my front page text more SEO friendly, ie increase my google search engine result placement for terms like "football forum" or "football news"

    Cheers

IMO, you have done a good job in optimizing your front page :)

For google, you just have to attract high quality inbound links to get you rank for your targeted keywords. Therefore, you will need inbound links with anchor text, football forum pointing to your site.

Content wise, you're doing very good imo. The urls are all friendly, and the pages load very fast for a forum.

However you seem to have one title for all the pages?

    Hi clickngo,

I have to agree with the rest. For a forum, your site definitely makes the A-list for visual appeal and pages load fast. On that note, I give you kudos. :D

I have no idea what makes your site so fast (caching perhaps). Using the Web Developer Toolbar for Firefox, I see that some of your pages are nearly 50k in size. You might want to think about file compression to save on bandwidth (if you're planning on your site becoming popular). And as emthree pointed out, you have the same title appearing on all your pages.

Pro SEOs would tell you to title each page appropriately. I think that's where you should start. However, I'm not good at all with SEO so don't take my word for it. ;)

I think there are no problems with your forum, seems SEO-friendly enough to me :D

As for incoming links, you can submit them to free directories in DP or you can purchase a link space for your link on those who are selling them. Poke around DP, you should be able to find a few.
