I think I have a good cause I would like to market this site to raise awareness of Sickle Cell Disease and also donate what I make out of it. So now is the time to learn as much as I can so I want to try harder this year My goal is to get to the first page of google for the keyword "STAMPS" for http://www.sicklecellstamp.com what must I do to reach this goal? use co-op? spend lots of money on links? please teach me?
Haichi, when setting goals for SEO, there are several factors that you should look at. Different websites have different opportunities to rank for certain phrases. For example, your website is a one page site and in frames. It also shows no page rank with Google which means that to them the site is new and will be in the Google sandbox for awhile. You only show 2 backlinks in Yahoo (0 in Google) which means you have a long way to go to get a real internet presence. What you need to do is take your site out of frames and concentrate on creating as many pages of unique content on your site that you can. I would say a good start for your site would be to have at least 20 pages of original content in your site. Then you can start a link building campaign targeting specific keyphrases that you want to rank for. I would not focus on just ranking for "stamps". For one thing it is much too competitive of a phrase and realistically you won't rank for it for a very very long time if ever. Go after phrases that are less competitive that you have a better chance of showing up for in the search results. I hope this gets you pointed in the right direction.
The site doesn't use frames, it uses a fixed-attachment image. SEOinAZ is right when he says target a different keyphrase though. Who in their right mind would serach for "stamps"? And how many of those people are searching for "sickle cell stamps"? If you were searching for "sickle cell stamps", that's what you would type in the search box, and that's one of the phrases you might consider targetting.
SEOinAZ thanks that is helpful I will design a new site with 20+ pages yes the domain is very new got it yesterday... and I already changed my mind and going with sicklecellstamps.com because I have 3 stamps so I will be using that and also changed the design and change vendors from stamps.com to zazzle.com because they had a better stamp composition for my art and support charities better. hooperman I am targetting "Sickle Cell Stamp" that should be easier in the long run I hope to be able to reach "Stamps" with all the knowledge on DP I know someone must have a way to get me there With all the SEO contest stuff going on here where they start with a new domain I'm sure with the right help I can sell these stamps
Build lots of back links for your site, submit to web directories, join co-op with a PHP site , submit articles to article sites , have clean html. Additionally you can also buy text link advertising on related and high value sites. You already know all that so now start working and developing ... regards jeet
