I Might Not be the Cheapest... But I am the Best Writer on the DP Forum

thread closed due to the abusive and insulting behaviour of the members of digital point forums who have caused me to feel bullied. Warning to all writers, unless you are 100% perfect and charge $1 per 100 words or less... Go else where

If price equates to quality then anyone with a higher rate than you will be a better writer than you. It should not be too hard to find at least one writer that works at a higher rate. I can find one if you do not believe that there are any.

Based on the logic you used, and assuming there are writers at above .03 per word, you are not the best writer on DP.

How about that, you make a claim and while trying to display evidence to back it up you end up shooting yourself in the foot.

You probably do not like this logic when it is used against you so it should not be used for you either. There are many writers on DP with varying rates and quality of work. Your statements may be true to your work, but not every writer gauges their effort input based on the pay rate.

This is not an attempt to take away from your business, but rather an attempt to display reasons for you to not take away from the business of other writers on DP. When well-founded it is a very effective and beneficial approach but this is not the appropriate scenario for you to shoot down the competition to get ahead.

Wow... I was not expecting to get shot down like that. I was expecting to get heckled for offering an Article Writing service above the norm of $1 per 100 words. The last thing I was expecting was to get shot down for misusing a phrase.

I'm sorry if I offended yourself or other members of the community here on DP.

I only said what I said because from an initial look at the forum, no one was offering a 'premium' service, like myself.

I wouldn't feel bad at all. Most people prefer to pay for poor quality and then complain about it.

Thanks... My thoughts exactly! I am here to make people here on DP realise that you get what you pay for.

hmmm...."the best writer" should know this...

The word "for" is a preposition. Sentences should not be ended with the word 'for" because of it being a preposition. It is incorrect and I am just telling you this because I see it happening a lot. We shouldn't use prepositions at the end of sentences because all prepositions should be followed by the object.

I'm not trying to have a go at you but I did find it rather frustrating that the word "for" was used at the end of the sentence and just wanted to let you know.

I am sure that the writing you personally do is still great regardless of your ending the sentence with a preposition :)

Technically, you are correct, but when I am posting on forums, I write how I speak to other people. It also depends on the style of writing. If I am writing articles that are meant to be friendly, chatty and informal, then I would quite happily end a sentence with a preposition.

In fact, perhaps you should give this article a read: http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/ending-prepositions.aspx

If you can't be bothered then it basically says you shouldn't take everything as black or white. The preposition rule is something you are taught when you are 5 or 6 and is in fact, not something that applies to every preposition.

Which of the following sound correct to you:

What did you drive over? OR What did you drive?
What have you stepped on? OR What have you stepped?
Why won't you cheer up? OR Why won't you cheer?

Hopefully you've realised the first sentences of the comparisons are the ones that make sense... YES, the one's with the prepositions at the end.

It is a myth. A myth that far too many people believe.

So before you go accusing me of not being able to write in a grammatically correct way, check your facts out first!

What's with the 'pick on the guy selling services above the usual cheap rate'?

    Sorry I didn't come on here as another $1 per 100 words vendor who's 1st, 2nd or 3rd language isn't English.

I'm not bashing you or anything, but the best writer on DP wouldn't make grammatical errors like that in their own sales thread.

I'm not saying you are in particular, but what's with the going through the sales thread with a fine tooth comb picking out any TINY error. Admittedly, that is a bad mistake.

But everyone makes mistakes. If even you're the best at something, mistakes get made.

    I apologise for being human.

    Crutchy,

Actually, those are not valid comparisons as they have entirely different meanings. I presume you meant to write, 'What did you drive over' vs 'Over what did you drive', and, 'What have you stepped on' vs 'On what have you stepped?'. However, since "Why won't you cheer up?" is a colloquial expression, it is not relevant to this subject of formal writing.

I was not necessarily suggesting that no sentence can ever end with a preposition, only that the overuse of it should be avoided as much as possible, without sounding archaic of course. Winston Churchill (famous for his aversion to that grammatical problem) even joked that it could be taken too far. How are those facts?

I am sure you write very well. I was just amused. Your title caught my attention and so I read your thread, and that line amused me. I was not picking on you or saying your work is not quality. I make mistakes all the time and if it happens to be ironic, so be it. Sorry if my post upset you. That was not my intention.

If I need some writing I will give you a shot.

Haha. Thank you Worldman. I've got on DP, not offering the norm and seem to have been shot down for it. Funny that it's only happened on DP and not other forums. Mind you, it does have a reputation.

To be, "the best writer on the DP forums", you need to be grammatically correct, which you are not. Good luck with your sales.

:) I concur. Anyone who claims they're "the best" writer on a forum populated with scores of writers surely should expect to be 'shot down' and should ensure that every sentence in his/her post is grammatically correct.

I am actually going to close this thread. I'm fed up with the people here on DP.

I've been writing for years now, and have been successful at it for years. It backfired completely by making a slight grammatical mistake in my thread.

It seems once the people of DP have got hold of a bone, they will chew at it for as long as possible.

    Clearly nothing better to do?

    Thank you and good bye!

Holy crap, some are just super annoying. I understand one or two complaints....He wrote "the best writer" because it's different than the rest of the title and would give him more exposition.

Hire him for writing, or just don't post. Grammar mistakes or not..
