I may have a hit on my hands... I want to make it better!

I've just started this website/blog at the beginning of this month (2/4 to be exact) and I've already received almost 2500 unique hits (steadily climbing from 10 hits on opening day to 551 hits yesterday). At the current rate, I'm looking at around 12,000-18,000 hits next month.

My CTR and revenue has gone thru the roof compared to other sites I run AS on, so I think I have a real winner on my hands right now. In the last 3 days alone I've generated a tenth of my entire 2006 AS revenue.

If anyone could take a gander on my site and let me know what I can change/fix, I'd appreciate it.

Word of warning, it's a site with celebrity female pics... no nudes but it seems certain people think some of it is risque, so if I'm passing any boundaries here, I apologize.

Thanks! FYI: I've applied to Yahoo's ad program in hopes of experimenting with it.

I thought Google and Adbrite should not be on the same page ...

You keep using the term 'hits'. I hope you mean 'unique visitors' and not hits. Do you?

My mistake on the whole visitors/hits thing. I don't have much experience using AWStats (which is pre-installed by my webhost), I was used to Webalyzer. Now I've got 2500 visitors... and over 100,000 hits. Thanks for bringing that up.

As for the diaper ad, whenever I see an ad I don't want to see on my site I add it to my AS filter list, so until I see that particular ad myself, I can't add it to my filter.

And as for AdBrite, I've only had 3 clicks on those all month (I'm pretty sure because none of them are related to my site, despite having added filters for those as well), so I'll be swapping those out soon for either more AS ads or affiliate ads.

You should get rid of the Adbrite ads. They just clutter up your site, and your Adsense ads (especially the sky on the left) get lost in all the junk. I'd leave the "Advertise here" Adbrite link, but not display the generic ads.

Don't show any nudity or people engaged (or pretending to engage) in sex and you should be fine. His site falls under "celebrity fansite", which there is nothing wrong with. Or if you're afraid your asian celeb site might be crossing the line, do it as a "asian celeb news" site, i.e. you can post celeb pictures, but always intro them with a bit of news about that celebrity. Celeb fansites are popualr and Google would never think of banning you for them. Look at all the ads for them!

    sketch, nice site, congrats!!

But I would check with G if its ok to show their ads in a popup window with no text content.

And I´ld try to not use stopwords, they´ll make adsense not show any ads, like in Lisa Rinna pic: "Lisa Rinna showering her nice *ss"

I just looked at the program policy at Google and it only says it there must be content on any pages showing ads; it doesn't specify what content is nor how much there must be.

Technically speaking, the images and captions contained in my new windows is content, albeit not much content.

If the popup window itself is a problem (I'm under the impression they mean popups with ONLY ads), that's an easy fix although it may ruin user-experience.

Thanks for the heads up on the stop words. I fixed the one you specified and it immediately started showing ads.

I did a search for stop words and found this:
    vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/adsense-stop-words.htm

Seems like a good resource... fortunately I don't really have to worry about many of them :)

Okay guys, it looks like I'm going to have some free time coming up soon and I want to update the layout of my site.

If anyone has any tips/suggestions on how to fully maximize the layout and ads on my site, this would be a great time for it, sizes, colors, spacing, anything goes! :)

    Hi Sketch,

I took a look at your site, and it's a nice looking site - babes aside, of course. ;)
I'd suggest blending in your ads a bit more, both by making the colors *exactly* match the colors of your site (e.g. the links), as well as making the dimensions match the dimensions of your content (i.e. width of columns, etc.). Other than that, the only suggestion I could make would be to break your content up a bit more - the site has a "busy" look to it right now, and could probably benefit from more space and some additional formatting.

    HTH,
    Sam
