jamx03, how long did it take for your blogs to make it into the top 10 in Google?

I am pretty much doing the same thing your doing, hoping to make money without paying anything to anyone.

 

Questions:

1. how do you optimize your blog for SEO? Whiich part do you use your keyword? keyword density in your post?
2. What is the best ad placement for blog?

Not all blogs are top ten in google but they do bring in reasonable traffic. But usually it takes anywhere from 45 days to 60 days. What I have noticed that google loves consistency, so if you update it 2-3times/week, I guess it should be enough. I usually use free services of submitexpress.com to select meta tags, to submit to search engines and to see my competitor's kw. Lately yahoo is actually lot better than google in bringing traffic.

As mentioned earlier I use submitexpress.com to submit to basic search engine. I also go to related forums, lets say if I am blogging about logistic software than I go to related directory and forum to post the link of my site. Again I am not expert in the niche I select but I find the best source of information for that particular niche. If you know where to look everything is available on net. Nice articles with nice presentation do bring results.

For your second questions, the best placement is in the old blogger was midway between entire post. In bloggerbeta it is not posssibe so I use it between heading and post. kw density is in the post.

really interesting thread guys. I went to a free seminar end of last year given over 2 days by many internet 'gurus' each earning 7 figure sums via the internet in different ways. Now the only thing they all said was find a niche (preferably start with something you know about) and ride it for what it's worth. Never think of a product and try and find an online market for it....as it may not exist or have very low demand. Unfortunately they then all went on to sell a personal mentoring package at crazy money!

 

Im trying to create a blog too, I setup a server and I am running wordpress MU on it, it runs great, and I find myself writing atlest one or two little things a day.

What I want is people to go there and make there own account and create a nice little blog.

my blog is http://bill.checkmyhead.com and if you create a blog you can pick the first part, so I think it could get a lot of traffic, Im up to almost 200 visits a day in less than a month, so hopefully it will take off. Just wish I could figure out how to get some more people who actually want to have there own blog.
