What's the URL? Many here will help you with placement, colors, blending, etc.

I would try to use the large rectangle ad unit and put it right smack dab in your visitors faces.

surely it's against AdSense TOS to put ads on a blank page?

reason you got more clicks because you didn;t have any content other than the ads. adsense on page without content is not allowed so you need to be careful

Its against TOS to put ads on a very low content or under construction.
You better remove all the ads before Adsense finds it.

Your not supposed to do that as the page will be seen as a no content page.

it's against tos but real key for adsense: don't give your visitors what they want, if they find what they are looking for, you will not get clicks.

It is really strange that you had too many clicks (with resultant surge in the earning) with too little content.

It is against TOS to put ads in an "under construction" page or page which has no/minimal content. The only link the users find in your page would be the adsense links, hence the high CTR.
Dont be surprised if you get banned.
