Thanks to finally getting a /sitemap.xml submitted to Google I now rank number one for "mankato web design" for my web site http://www.MankatoWebDesign.com/ Before I submitted the sitemap I was ranked WAY lower. My advice? Submit a sitemap to Google immediately!
A sitemap does NOT get you ranking higher, this is a co-incidence, OR you had pages that were unreachable and the sitemap helped to get those spidered which in turn boosted your rnakings due to internal links.
Congratulations, but it seems that you're ranking for a fairly uncompetitive phrase. Wordtracker shows 2 searches per day. Although I suppose that's 60 searches per month, you may still be able to profit fairly well.
i do agree with Old Welsh guy, google sitemap doesnt help you with your rankings, its main purpose is for pages to crawled ..
I didn't step on a crack my whole way home yesterday and today I ranked number one for "chuck norris and his green pajamas" Coincidence? I think not!
I should say congratulations on hitting a target, after all, if this was a target you set yourself, and you have now achieved it, then well done. Business is about constant evaluation and development though, so now you have reached this goal, you will instantly know if this is a major of minor achievment. If as a result you are getting enough visits/business, then you might need to decide that all you have to do is protect this ranking. If not enough business is forthcoming, then you will have to re-evaluate and set a new goal. Goals,, their achievement and re-evaluation is what successfl business is all about. So once again, congratulations on achieving your goal. Let us know how sussessful/not it has been.
I'll bet those two searches per day, were the web site owner; sounds like they've been tracking that keyword to see when they rank with it. I would imagine no one will search the term, unless they are told to specifically look for that web site/company online. If that is true, then ranking on that term will never be worth anything, as it will only be searched if people know EXACTLY what/who they're looking for. The key to ranking on a term, is ranking on a term that is competitive, and that users will search, when looking for a product or information they are not already privy to. It's easy to find a site on the Internet, that you already know is there...and it's easier to be found when someone already knows your site is there. Does this make sense?
Whilst he may have been the sole 2 searches per day on that, anyone in his region who does search for that particular term will give him an extremely targeted visitor. Albeit, there won't be very many of them. Regardless of which though, congratulations on reaching your first goal! If you organise your Internet marketing in a series of goals, you'll find hitting that elusive big target a great deal easier!
At least one, but no revenue from him, since he cannot click his own ads... Anyway, its a good sign that your site entered the system properly.
You should add this business to Google Maps. Look for "Business Owners: Add/Edit Your Business" on the lower left side.
. my site site ranked the first for "imagesh". Lol, I don't know what it means but actually there are ~3-10 searchs a day for that keyword
in my case sitemaps was a real problem. I have a site with over 5000 dinamicaly created pages and the sitemap wasn't so complete, so google indexed only the pages in te sitemap and the rest were left to die Now that I removed the sitemap it's much better, I have almost all my pages indexed.
