I'm very conservative with my money, so I often do everything myself, even if I have to learn something new. I'm trying to get out of this habit, as it stops me from doing what I love (writing, marketing etc) - a few days ago I posted a project on eLance. I've bought 100 domain names ($716) and am currently paying someone a small fee to put sites (I made the sites) onto each domain. All the sites are affiliate sites, and as long as I make $10 off each domain over 12 months...I profit. Pretty sweet deal imo - seeing as I got one of my sites to earn $90+ in 15 days, I am confident. That is quite a lot of luck, but as long as I make $1 more than it costs me, I figure it's worth it, as there is no effort required, and there is always potential a couple of em to get some nice rankings. PS. try outsourcing stuff you find boring!
Good luck to you. Personally I hate outsourcing as I am one of those people that like to be hands on. However there are times when it is in your best interest to outsource. Although I do tend to check the work thoroughly after it has been completed.
That was me, but I was just spending way too much time on a single project. I would never even thought of setting up 100 sites by myself. Still, each to his own.
I was doing everything myself, was working 24/7 (slept with my computer on next to my bad with IM with sounds to wake me up when anything); I thought I was saving money doing it all by myself. Now I am outsourcing most work; I have free time and my ventures are growing faster and making more than before. But to a certain point you can do everything yourself, after that you'll either go insane or outsource or cut back and grow no further.
Next step is to buy 4 hour work week - picking it up tomorrow, apparently it talks about all this kind of stuff. Hopefully it isn't hyped up garbage...doesn't seem like that though.
Little details bother me so I probably wouldn't like someone else doing things cause I'd just change them. I don't plan on making that many sites though. Maybe I would change my mind if I had to do that.
I have 1 year of school left (entering Year 12), so I'm trying to just diversify as much as possible. Launching affiliate sites, blogs, podcasts, forums, newsletters, internet courses...should be fun
I do believe that outsourcing is great and can help you grow and make a better business My problem is that I do not want to train competitors providing my knowhow and my ideas
I love to outsource but I guess that is because I'm just lazy. To what extent do you guys go to keep from having to outsource your work though? What if you wanted to make a site that required a certain programming language you were unfamiliar with, would you try to learn that language or would you at that point outsource?
I have quite a bit of experience with outsource. Outsource is awesome for small projects like for Wordpress or Joomla since any programmer can pick up the project if your last programmer left. For huge custom work then it's a different story, it's literly a nightmare to manage, the programmer has you by the balls if you don't know any programming background knowledge. Outsourcing is amazing for the monkey works
I don't get why people are still thinking that they have to know how to do everything! I LOVE outsourcing - I think it is the best thing ever! It allows me to concentrate on creating new ideas for promotion, design, marketing or whatever - and then just get someone to help do them. If it's my own stuff I will usually do the design work - just because I like to do it... but most things I will outsource now, just because they will generally be faster at it than I would have been.
good to know that you like to outsource your work. anything that could provide work for others especially those in developing countries is great
It's all going good at the moment. The worker/s had a little trouble to begin with, but then I added some extra detail to the instructions, and clarified some things. They seem to have the process down - it'll still take 2-3 days for them to finish the work. Just remember, if you outsource give very detailed explanations!
The problem with outsourcing work is finding reliable people that will not let you down constantly - Also I like things done in a certain way so it can be hard to explain what I want etc.
It is tricky, but thats why you start with simple/repetitive tasks, and when you find a good person/team you stick with them and make them love you.
Tis a book by Timothy Ferriss - talks about how to work less but earn more through outsourcing, virtual assistants etc. My copy should arrive at the end of next week.
