Nice advice canadian. I believe it does tak a while to build up your profile and start earning any half decent return.
are you kidding me? i made up the term "link condom"? do a google search before you even talk. i have sites ranking in top 3 for competitive SINGLE WORD keywords that don't have a single outbound link on the site. yea, i really have no clue what google quality guidelines are.
what i do is, i block www.domain.com/redirect/ in robots.txt, and have script(s) inside that folder. So when I link to an external site, I put a link that looks like www.domain.com/redirect/widget.php on one of my landing pages, widget.php then 301/302 redirects to the affiliate link. I would also nofollow when linking to widget.php the beauty of this is that users won't see that you are linking them to an affiliate site when looking/pointing to the link, and they will think they are just going to another page on your page. also, redirect scripts can be a lot easier if you use a database table to store the affiliate links and have the script do a look up to see which link to send the customer to.
Yes link condom was a parody for using no follow tags. And anyone can say they have rankings for single word terms.. so thumping your chest with claims you won't show... is basically what is known as a fart. You get that agitated in life so easily???
I am not much of a big earner compared to Nabs (props to him), but I do pull in about $6k a month in profit. I will say that both methods work depending on the situation. if the site you are an affiliate of allows direct linking and has good landing pages where you can send traffic to while setting a cookie, then usually this is the better way. an example is this company that I do AM for, they are only capable of letting me set cookies and sending traffic to their home page, so sending people to there might not work as well. In that case, I have a targeted landing page that I would buy traffic to, and have the affiliate link on there.
ummm.....so should i list my site and let other people steal my ideas? Nabs didn't post stuff about his sites, I guess he's farting too...
this is one of the most useful posts that I have ever read that promotes the idea of running several (if not hundreds) of sites as opposed to just working on one single site. In his latest Q&A...Shoemoney was asked the question if it was better to have a small number of sites (10-20) and put alot of work into them...or have a large number of sites (100-200) and put a little bit of work. ShoeMoney seemed to indicate the large number of sites would be more profitable! Very interesting...this has gone against so many perople's opinion here at DP. I have read the DP for a few years now and the general indication has always been have a small number of sites. Anyone have anything else to add about this?
Shoemoney has destroyed his site. It is now infiltrated with spam. All he does is sponsored reviews his subscribers have dropped from 19000 to 9000. And he had to remove the feedcount. Also there is not answer to the above question one or two sites could be just as profitable!
Nabs, can you please name some of the places that you went to for your knowledge....I know that you said that you have never read any ebooks, so maybe you can point out some forums or useful threads that you used to learn from...Thank you
The "redirect" might cause some suspicions thought, can you tell me what script are you using or is it custom made ? Thanks
This is utterly the best encouragement a newbie at Affiliate Marketing can get. Awesome! Thanks again for sharing this Nabs.
Thats something i can't seem to dominate? I probably have lost 3K on adwords and hosting over the past couple of weeks? I give direct information on whats in the hosting plan. And then nothing else happens. Always clicks but no conversions? if you have any advice on landing page, or the specific affiliate, can u send me a PM. Hosting is eating into all my other profits quite severely!
it's custom, but it's very simple. all it's really doing is getting a parameter to tell it where to redirect to, query the database for that parameter value and get the url to redirect to, then 301/302 redirect to that url.
But of what I see around, Google does not treat affiliate site very well... How do you compensate that?
