You probably just have other people competing for that keyword, and they are probably doing a better job than you. The PR update shouldnt have had anything to do with it, considering that Google indexes based on link popularity and relevance. I would just work on backlinks a bit more and optimize your page a bit more for your selected keyword.

The PR update may or may not have been part of the official Google Caffeine update. It is normal to see ranks drop down but since SERP results update constantly just wait for little more time to see improved rankings. Did you see a drop in page PR (toolbar PR)?

When google updated page rank it might have given your competitors higher PR putting them above you for chosen keyword, need to start working now to get your site up top.

Pr has nothing to do with SERP. I could have a PR 1 website and rank #1 while others with a PR of 5 rank on #50. It's all about the content and the backlinks.

It happens to my blogs before but what I have done is that I dont lost hope I concentrate with updating my blogs with more contents from time to time and I also work with gaining more backlinks and I have recovered it so I guess create more backlinks and I am sure you will recover what is lost to you

You might have lost good backlinks there and after the update, you lost your PR.

PageRank is one of the factors that dictates your position in serps, and while it's not the 'be all and end all', it's just silly to say it has no bearing at all.
However - toolbar PageRank lags behind the PR being used in the algorithm - any effect from a drop in your PR happened weeks ago.

You mean to say you lost both PR and SERP? That's quite serious. Better do get more links to improve the SERP.
But then again, the recent update may be part of Google Caffeine. You may want to wait and see.

My pagerank haven't changed at all after the last update. Maybe because I didn't exert too much work after I got PR2. I'll ork harder now and I might get lucky on the next PR update to increase my rank.

Anyways, if you have a entertainment niche blog, is it helpful to post on .edu and .gov links?
