I had to drive to and from Miami today. We don't even liberal radio in my town, but for whatever reason, alligator alley has nothing but liberal radio. So that's what I listened to today. Here's my take. The first one was a woman, I can't remember her name. It may have been Stephane Miller, I know her last name was Miller but not sure about her first. I'm going to be honest when I say it was, by far, the most horrendous talk show I had ever listened to. It was like listening to Howard Stern minus the funny. It was nothing but toilet flushing sounds, fake applauses, farts, and very childish(even by my means) attacks on republicans. I lasted about 20Minutes and had to switch channels. Next up was a black liberal show. Black host and 90% black callers. This was way better than Miller's show, but still bad. The thing I liked about this was the caller at the end. For about 45Minutes, it was NOTHING but bitching and boohooing about how the white man and our government is trying to hold the black man down. It was really pathetic. All I could keep thinking about was all the Indians, Asians, Mexicans, and other people who come here, work hard, and succeed. Meanwhile, many black americans are still wallowing in their own misery, looking for a handout or an excuse. So anyway, after about 45Minutes of this cry fest, they get a caller, an old black woman, I'd say at least 65 judging by her voice. The lady was totally irate at the host and all the callers. To sum it up, she screamed at them for 5minutes about how the only one holding down black americans are indeed black americans themselves. She also belittled them saying they think everything is so tough and everyone is so mean to them. She said they didn't know anything about a struggle, getting hosed down with fire hoses, beaten, attacked by dogs, etc. She said she is ashamed to have been part of the movement that brought black americans so many rights because black americans have ruined everything her and her peers had done for them. You really had to hear her set these idiots straight, it was beautiful. If I could have called her and told her great job, I would have. Next was Ed Schultz, he wasn't too bad. He wasn't a loon, he wasn't over the top or anything like that. Pretty level headed guy. Course I don't agree with much of what he says, but that's OK. I leaned a bit with his show. He had on Edwards and Ron Paul for phone interviews. I gotta say, there are things about Ron Paul I really like. Just the fact the libs like him give me a weird feeling, I know they're up to something. I do like the mans domestic policy views. The only thing I'm not sure about is his M.E. views. Then he had Edwards on, I always thought Edwards was a slimey slip and fall trial lawyer, his interview only did what other interviews of him have done for me...convince me that he is indeed, a slimey slip and fall trial lawyer. I really don't like this guy, he may even be worse than Clinton. The other thing I learned is even the libs hate Hillary. After listening to this show, I wonder if Hillary really will be the nominee? Where does her popularity come from? Everyone on the show, and all the callers hate her, many independents hate her, and we know what the right thinks about her. So how is it she has so much support? Anyway, this guy Schultz, he wasn't bad. The other two shows were complete train wrecks. I just found it interesting as I have never actually sat down and listened to left wing talk shows. One thing that did stand out that I found very interesting, they all complain about the conservative bias in the media. Can anyone explain this? I'm not trying to be a smart ass, I really don't get it. Yes, you have Fox News and talk radio on the republican side. But aside from that, TV, Movies, Music, Hollywood, Books, etc. is all run by the left. Maybe they were all just talking about radio, I can't figure it out. They all just kept bitching about "conservative media bias" Anyway, I can sort of see why the left tends to not fair well in radio. With the exception of Ed, it was almost unbearable to sit through. They basically have no content and they just ramble on about literally nothing. If it was for Ed's phone interviews with Edwards and Paul, his show would have been pretty bad as well.
Except for the one bright spot (the little old lady) that would have driven me to stop at the nearest bar. I think the sound of the engine might have been better.
I think Hillary gets her fan base from the Bill Clinton supporters. It's the whiney far left that hates her. She won't promise to get out of Iraq any time soon. As of right now I think this is going to be another 2000 election: two terrible candidates and a divided nation. I only voted for Bush in 2004 because of Michael Moore's movie and the realization that Bush was the only one running that took the problem of Islamic terrorism seriously.
It was pretty bad. But what were my options? I hate music on the radio, and I hate sports. So it's either the sound of the engine or the radio. Then again, I was driving my bosses supercharged jaguar xjr, maybe I should have gone with the engine sound lol
If you get Lionel (he used to be in tampa, I think he's new york now but syndicated). He's tolerable sometimes and a leftist. He's kinda funny. Too bad he can't make a coherent point to save his life, but he's good at his shtick.
lol, nice I was there for work purposes. Even for work purposes, it's a pleasure I'm working on the beach. (North Miami Beach)
That one always confuses them Liberals, signing up as Republicans to vote for a Libertarian who has pledged not to defend America. Awkward times we live in. Thank goodness for 4%!
Take a look and think about the various forms of media that you just listed. When you judge them on how much they actually affect what is going on the real world, you should realize that control of the major TV networks and radio stations (and how they portray the news) is much more powerful than a Michael Moore movie or tree-hugging book of some kind (as ironic as that would be). And if you're wondering who exactly is controlling those major TV networks (the list of people is surprisingly short) and what biases they might have, take a poke around the web (try starting out at Wikipedia) and look it up for yourself.
I know media is powerful. My only question is how does the left figure the media is right wing? At very best, it's 50/50. We both know it's not 50/50 though.
How can you imply that the lefties have the power in mass media? The majority of the staunch crazy liberals are members of grassroots foundations, hosting rallies in their hometown and similar stuff like that. One of the few ways to get liberal thoughts to the mainstream is to joke about them; that's how you get people like Jon Stewart, or countless other comedians of various styles. The people who hold the power over the media are (obviously) very rich and have a lot of friends in high places, including the government. It's not like the conversation goes "I own a TV network so be nice to me government" but it's more like "I own a TV network and I also own the company that makes 80% of the equipment that the military is currently using in Iraq and elsewhere so continue forking over untold amounts of the tax payer's money in excess and extraneous charges that I can put towards whatever biases I have and express them via my instant link to millions of U.S. citizens (i.e. my TV network). Thanks government."
This isn't really about George Bush. He is a laughing stock just about all over the world. This is more about conservative versus liberal bias in the media.
Exactly you think they would at least hold back on the republican jokes whilst they are voting republican Still laughing at him (Taken from Gworld)
Ly2 i like ron pauls views also, but im realistic enough to know that once he becomes president (if he does) he will have no choice but to bend to the will of the special interest groups that control the agenda of the president. Almost every president has promised so many things to us, thenwhen they get elected they never follow through on their promises. One reason is most politicians are crooks by nature, another reason is the power grip the elitists hold on our country. As for liberal and conservatives, i think both are crazy. When u lean to far to the left or right your judgment on issues becomes clouded. God bless the moderates lol(i know jesus was one also)
I don't think Jesus was very political or moderate. He was an extremist who went as far as saying He was equal to God.
I have to respectfully disagree with you on this statement. The actual words spkoken by Jesus as reported in the bible NEVER say he was equal. He always gave all power to the Father. Now there are additional passges in the new testement that make these claims. Those were written by the "Paulist followers" who are the true founders of this Christian religion. Jesus was born and died as member of the Jewish faith.
We really don't care what Canada thinks about him. He's our problem to deal with, the last thing we are worried about is if anyone else likes him. We are the ones that have to deal with his shit everyday.
