My Mom has them. When she starts a siege her MD says start on an over the counter antihistamine. Are you allergic by any chance? Some doctors cauterize the nasal area but that is supposed to be very unpleasant.

Three isnt too bad within one day and could be brought on by the stress and depression. I suggest seeing a Doctor if you get anymore within the next couple of days, better safe than sorry.

i think nose bleeds can be caused by a vitamin deficiency too. yeah, too many claritins give me them too. i hate claritin, but no choice :(
or too much aspirin (blood thinners) can cause it too.

I asked my fiancee (an MD) about it.

    Possible causes
    1. Nasal mucosal dryness
    2. Nose picking (sounds funny but hey...)
    3. Injuries
    4. Allergies
    5. Drug use (like cocaine)
    6. High blood pressure (normally in older people)

If it's dryness, you might consider getting a humidifier. You could also try taking a cotton swab and applying some petroleum jelly.

Obviously, she advised you see your doctor. They can cauterize with silver nitrate if necessary.

Any blood thinner can worsen the problem, such as wine or alcohol in general.

My brother has that problem too, he had it cauterized but it didn't solve the problem entirely.

The bleeding happens with no apparent reason, anytime, anywhere.

But luckily it doesn't occur that often, every now and then, and obviously it's easier to happen if the bleeding only just stopped.

See a doctor and good luck!

When I was younger I had my nose cauterised. It wasn't to bad, you just feel a light burning/itching. It stopped my nose bleeds!

hey man, don't take the risk - go see a doctor... it could be caused by blood pressure/stress and could lead to stroke...

    *i'm no doctor though*

Glad to be of some help!

But remember that it can't be the cause of the problem, it only makes your nose bleed more easily and for a longer period.

See a doctor, even if it stops...

    Good luck!

I used to get that. My doctor put silver nitrate up my nose to cauterise it. Nice!

If you get that done, beware the leakage afterwards. The combination of silver and blood can leave a stain on your lip and you'll look silly for a few days.

I used to have nose bleeds all the time, I just figured it was from the stress which I was under at the time but I suppose that's related to blood pressure.
