i just sold a site in sitepoint, whats next for me?

hi, yesterday I just had an auction wherein the BIN was reached. That was the first site I sold on sitepoint, and its also the first time I have done that. So what are the security measure tips that you can give me to maybe avoid something bad? I just received the payment in Paypal and found out the guy wasn't verified yet! I did some research on him though (through google) and he looks pretty legit..

I have heard about some scammers on sitepoint and how they reverse payment after getting the site... How can I avoid it? Any tips to make sure I wouldn't be one of those victims?

Thanks, sorry for sounding too noob!

Congrats on your first auction and BIN to boot.

Honestly it depends on the value of the transaction. If it was anything more than $1000 then I would insist on using Escrow.com or Wire Transfer for payment.

As it is, you are already past that stage.

I would check into his activity on Sitepoint to begin with, is he a new user, any feedback, previous purchases, etc. Again depending on the value of the transaction I would ask for his phone number and address, see if they match his PayPal details and if needs be give him a call for confirmation.

I would say that you should tell him to verify their account first and you should have an escrow if there is a deal worth over $1,000.

You should check the buyer feedback such as itrader and their post count.
If the buyer is established member then you can safely trade with him.

I think there's a limit on how much you can pay using an unverified paypal account. If more than the allowable amount then you should think twice before giving that person anything...

I would suggest that if you acctully have not got the money and you know about the guy, take it up legally,

check his background user out before transaction is the main 'research target'

do not sell if he is unverified he can chargeback and you will not be protected by paypal

even if he is verified it is still a liability for large amounts.. there are so many loopholes in the silly paypal system

no excuses dont do it -- your opening yourself a can of worms there as they say here

Have you asked for the sitepoint members' opinion about this guy? See what they think, and if anyone knows him at all. "Pretty legit" with an "unverified account", how did you manage to put those two factors together?

Have you heard about scammers on digitalpoint? :)
They are everywhere, mate. If you're feeling happy to relate your business to online forums, then my recommendation would be to avoid dealing with newly registered members that do not have a history. Let them grow up first and convince the audience that they're worth of trust before starting an actual business with you, for instance.
