Hi folks, I got an invitation from Yahoo to signup for the YPN network. I currently use adsense. Should I sign up with YPN? I have not been happy with Adsense since my earnings have gone downhill. Will YPN earn me more?
I'd take a look through the forums here, it seems that as of late peeps are getting pretty pissed at them. Furthermore, just like Adsense, it depends on your keywords whether or not you will earn more or less.
Since you cant show yahoo ads outside the us, i'd test ypn for USA people, and leave googleads for the rest of the world. After a month you can compare your earnings and choose what is best for you. Just my two cents. Guido
I see really no difference in what adsense pays compared to what ypn now pays. There used to be a huge difference but now its pretty narrow.
from my experience YPN still pays way more, about 4-5 times what Adsense pays. But the ads suck. It's really hard to get them to post relevant ads. And the businesses writing the ads suck as well. So your click through rate will be a lot lower with YPN. but you still might end up making more money, just because the rate is so much higher. that's my niche, you will have to test your's.
Guys, half of my traffic is international. So, can I show both YPN and Adsense or is that against the TOS for one of them?
I would go ahead and get YPN and use them....I feel it is better to be covered by 2 ad networks than just one. Also, the YPN invite is very coveted right now, with people offering xxxx$ to buy one...Once YPN goes international, I would expect that their service will be just as good if not better than google.
You can try for couple of days or a week like a BETA Testing, like what YPN does and compare your earnings, CTR with adsense and decide...
Run... run away quickly! Now seriously, I have used both Adsense and YPN and Google has got much better ad targeting than Yahoo currently does. However with both programs you are at their mercy at all times.
I would still accept the invitation, you're not obligated to use it, but at least you'll have it if needed. Yahoo is notorious for canceling accounts that have too much international traffic. As someone mentioned earlier test it on a site with a high USA visitor ratio. The targeting option is pretty crappy though for YPN, and the ad inventory is less than Google.
