Why is it that if you bump an old thread people get mad at you for bumping, yet if you create a new topic about the same thing, you get critized since there was already a thread about it??

I guess i just dont get it.

Well I'm pretty sure there's a rule against both the two...and creating a duplicate thread will be considered spam, while bumping is bumping. :p

    AFAIK

If you have something useful to contribute to the old thread, then it would be fine to bump it.

But if you are posting something like "Thanx, that helped me" then it would be considered a bump and a deserved infraction.

On the vast scale of DP you will always piss some people off with whatever you do. Don't be put off by it. Just make your best judgement and you will ultimately be fine.

As a general rule of thumb; post it in the old thread if it's not outdated, if it's still topical. Start it in a new thread if important parts have changed.

People are always PO'd and many time for reasons that have nothing to do with your post. Use your best judgement, listen to the mod's, and try thicker skin. :)
