I just brought John Cow's blog to its knees with a typo

Basically, we were testing a wordpress plugin of mine earlier in the day, and then Mr Cow went off for a Christmas party. He has no idea that his blog is...uh...stuck.

At midnight server time, a cron job kicked in - but it has a typo in it, so it loops in an endless error. As I don't have server / admin access (was just providing the code), its going to stay like that until he gets back.

And his last words were....im going to get really really drunk....I wonder what a drunk, angry Cow looks like...

Help me out by Digging it

1) You should have used a "test" platform...

2) You know what people to digg your error like its funny.....

Do you realize that he has PAYING advertisers that are expecting traffic.......

You think by screwing his code . its a funny thing?

I'd rip off his head and eat it! Troll style this is not funny and you could very well have some trouble coming your way. I would not brag about this one bit. Your coding services have just gone down the tubes, and for what? Some thing YOU think is funny.

P.S. I know this coming from the guy who laughs and jokes a lot about trolls and stuff. This is not funny though and you have hurt someone that did not do anything to you nor probably would not have.

It's real 'loco' that someone would f*-up and brag about it.

It was an honest mistake, we all make typos. No biggie, a reader pinged me on my blackberry and we were back in an hour or so

 

I don't see why John Cow would hire a kid though...

He will probably just have to give advertisers an extra day or so on his site but this shouldn't have happened in the first place, it should have been rigorously tested on another server before putting it up there. There are programs to search for typos and possible typos too, one of these could have saved it all.

That is cool to see the Cow is back online, But I think the developer who made this post has deleted his blog post.

 

Maybe John Cow told him too.

Kind of funny that there is no confidentiality agreement.

 

The blog post was not on the developer's site. The blog post was on my site. I took it down because, after thinking about it for a few minutes, it wasn't very nice to post about someone else's misfortune. I've since issued a public apology to John regarding this issue.

 

I don't know what you guys are talking about, John Cow's blog looks perfectly fine on my browser.

 

good to hear that. However, this mistake must have kept few visitors away for a while but alsbo might have driven some visitors from this thread to check if John Cow's blog was actually down.
