I know it's not a big deal for all of you seasoned folks..just sharing my happiness :D

    It is http://www.collegeconsolidation.org.

From Yahoo for $1.99 for the 1st year, 2nd year on it will be $9.95.

Does anyone know if it's possible to transfer the domain from Y! to another cheaper registrar at the end of 1st year?

$9.95 is cheap. Normal domain price around $8. Let me know if you are getting it lower than that

you will need to "cancel" the service, thus, if you are using yahoo DNS, then the steps are as follows:

1.) set-up own or move DNS hosting
2.) move your domain DNS to new DNS servers
3.) cancel domain service via yahoo control panel
4.) email yahoo for auth_code (the code that let you move domain to different registrar)
5.) transfer domain to a different registrar
