I hope this question about blogging makes sense....

Okay, I am new to the blogging thing and here is what I am trying to find out.

I have read a good deal and I think I saw where a blog regardless of how many posts is looked at as a web page.

Each of my posts have the unique page name that makes it appear to be a seperate web page, but is it not?

So my question, I would like to see if I could monetize a particular topic in a blog rather than setting up a website and domain name. I understand the website gives me the ability to link within the site and have page titles and keyword usage etc. Do the search engines recognize blog posts like they do web pages?

And if so, do I have to put keywords in the meta tags and then write about those topics. I was told I should only use about 20 keywords, is this true?

I quess what I am trying to get at is, can a blog be as successful with many posts on topic as a website with many pages on topic?

Also, are post titles recognized as keywords, or is it the labels and should I only pick my best 20 keywords to be successful.

I am just "cornfused", I really am excited about blogging on the things I love(yes I would like to make money though?) but I do not want to invest a bunch of time in a blog if my posts will not be as successful as a website.

    Thanks everyone
    Jay

You could try a plug in called "SEO Title tags." (Just Google Search). It will help you with that. You can tag the posts with the keywords that you like without messing with the actual content or title of the post.

I take it by "blogging" you mean you have a blog, not the commercial site that's in your signature?

If so, and you are using Blogger to host it, make sure in Settings > Archiving that you have the Enable Post Pages box set to yes. Then, as described under the box, "Post Pages give each of your posts their own unique web page, in addition to appearing on your blog's front page.". Each page will then be searchable. If someone searches for several words that appear only on one post, the result will point to that post directly, and google ads(for example) will put ads related to the content of that post. If the key words searched for appear on several pages, then the search will probably link to your main site page.
